The Sharjah Environment and Protected Areas Authority hosted the closing ceremony of the Sharjah Sustainability Award in its tenth edition, “Schools and Green Universities”, on Wednesday at the Al Qasimia University Theater.

The ceremony began with the national anthem, the Noble Qur’an, the presentation of the award film, the speech of Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, President of the Environment and Nature Reserve Authority in Sharjah and the speech of Dr. Abdullah Shanableh, Director of the Research Institute for Science and Engineering at Sharjah University, member of the jury and finally honoring the collaborators and members of the judging panel, the winners in the Green Schools category and the Universities category.

Hana Saif Al Suwaidi said: “We congratulate the winners of the tenth edition of the Sharjah Sustainability Award in order to make this great event a success. At the end of the tenth edition of the award, which lasted over one academic year, and after the completion of the evaluation procedures and the approval of the evaluation results, the winners were nominated for distinguished and innovative projects that offer environmental solutions and distinct ideas in this field. of sustainable development.

Al Suwaidi pointed out that the Sharjah Sustainability Award aims to promote the concept of a sustainable green environment and the importance of the award launch lies in the commitment and invitation of school and university students to develop their perceptions of independent projects, ideas and activities. , to improve the environment and achieve a sustainable green environment with globally applicable environmental specifics, which stem from the visions of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, on the importance of protecting the environment, preserving biodiversity and sustainability in the Emirates.

The number of schools and educational centers that participated in all award areas reached 150 public and private schools, from different emirates, except student centers.
