While decisions are long overdue… Jordan: “Rain of Questions” in “Modernization Staff” and “Front Line” seats

Bassam Al Badarin

Aman – Al Quds Al Arabi: “The waiting period for decisions has taken a long time.” This is the impression of most Jordanian politicians, as they closely observe two types of regulation: the first is made, decided and bears a name and a tariff, and its title is the modernization of political and economic systems.
The second is not yet known to everyone, but in the political summary, specialists link it to the sensors of the post-royal visit to Washington, which are supposed to have consequences on the domestic political scene. Once again, its elite, salons, districts, decision-making centers, symbols and tools are waiting.
Everyone expects some important transformations and decisions within the country, and the assemblies of politicians are full of the familiar season, where rumors, speculation and mass leaks of the kind that usually precede the dramatic changes, which in the past had to do with people and tools, not methodologies and programs.
Will the issue soon change and will steps be taken to suggest to any observer, at home and abroad, that a plan has been drawn up and is on its way to being implemented immediately?
A hypothetical question, but that wanders among all interested and so far there is no hasty answer; Not because the directions of the decision are not yet clear, but because the path is thirsty and impulsive, and the accounts have to be evaluated, and the change is by its nature disturbing and sometimes costly. This situation is permanent and recurring in the Jordanian domestic case.
However, in the main decision-making centers there is a strong insistence that there is an urgent and urgent need to immediately implement a programmatic approach, in order to present as much as possible an integrated project at the level of internal files to avoid quarrels. and later try to “accommodate politically” with Americans or others; Because the uncertainty at the local entrance has reached the point where all parties in the region today want to see a specific face of a plan in order to establish balances and relationships on its basis.
Even when it came to an expert dialogue session, honest and closed, on Sunday, on the issue of the Israeli political stalemate, the political participants were again faced with the problems of the national wall. Questions arose here: Should we adopt the rules of engagement with Israel today through a national dialogue?
Are our needs urgent to shake hands with Palestinian resistance factions?
Should we stop the Muslim Brotherhood demonization program?
Will we return to a basic square entitled real and radical political reform that transcends the signs and effects of the famous quarrel and its consequences?
Amidst the rain of questions about the “modernization cadres”, one of the participants in the discussion also asked: Is insistence still the best strategy to “secure” all the tracks?
.. What should we do more clearly about the documents of modernization of the political, economic and administrative system and the idea of starting a national rescue government that restores the state, according to what the former minister and educated politician Dr. Talib al- Rifai proposed?
Just big, medium and small questions roaming all the pages among Jordanians now, waiting for the whistle of determination and decisions, because every step today and every decision, no matter how small, means a lot to the vague project political, which all among the Decision Elite believe that its architecture should be completed and launched before the end of the day.current year.
The Americans recently fell silent when some Jordanian comments were made on “less sensitive” issues and suspicions about official circles.
This behavior implies the desire of the American to promise allegiance to tendencies and decisions piece by piece and not by majority, which increases the pressure on decision-making circles and the kitchen, if there is a kitchen at all in the bureaucratic political sense.
Despite this great urgency, some facts are supposed to be resolved very soon, such as the fate of the current government, its form, the upcoming elections in the light of the modernization of the system, the attitude towards the Islamic trend and the space in which it will sit a new and giant constitutional body called the National Security Council, as well as the fate and the way of dealing with the problems that have emerged within a document in the name of liberalizing the economy, the government may respond soon. with a plan called stimulating the economy.
And in the context of the old, repetitive question that raises all the songs and tunes politically and in the media: Who are the members of the new team that will take over the new workshop?
Many big issues are at stake and are pending, and unlike all the early ones, it can be said simply this time that there is an existing and agreed plan that has gained a measure of legitimacy called the modernization of economic and political systems.
The plan is being implemented and has become a symbol of consensus, not only among Jordanians, as described by its committee chairman Samir al-Rifai for “Al-Quds al-Arabi” directly, but also among decision-making institutions. The dose of Al-Rifai’s enthusiasm is clear, but he is required to show a measure of patience and wisdom in practice and implementation.
And the plan of the Prime Minister Dr. Bishr Al-Khasawneh, as I also understood from Al-Quds Al-Arabi, is a ready confrontation in the context of reforming what is possible in the administration and the public sector, pending the development of a methodology of economic stimulus.
But any plan in the governing body everyone knows he needs a mandate today that allows Al-Khasawneh to review his staff under the heading of intertwined accounts that could be linked to government restructuring – if at all allowed – or the introduction of an extended ministerial reshuffle, while the two perspectives quarrel over the smallest dossier for an extraordinary session: Parliament’s summer session is a “me”, and the latter sees no urgent justification.
Recently, well-known figures at the center of the decision were told that the crisis of confidence with the Jordanians has become great as it affected the state recently and not just governments, and that restoring credibility today requires courage, decisions and quick and bold intervention. to force all institutions into the methodology that was put in place, until it falls out of the way and is played out by that long-standing cheer Demanding change of approach, not the people.
Here, exclusively, under the title “A Direction to Restoring Credibility,” is a race, brawl, and sometimes quarrel, in the dark between those who find themselves best in the front row of the show.
Everyone knows in parallel that nothing will be achieved in the context of modernization in all its branches unless the new National Security Council enters into the mix of the security system and reproduces its bureaucratic doctrine.
This is certainly a difficult and tricky task, but it is essential and people point it out from time to time. So everyone is still waiting.
