Saraya –

The Bulletin of the Institute for Family Health Care, King Hussein Foundation, puts in the hands of the reader today, Sunday, a series of nutritional tips that should be followed after the end of the blessed month of Ramadan.

The institute bulletin explains how to gradually return to the usual diet, the healthiest foods for the body, the number of meals and the time periods during which it is recommended to eat food, in addition to important measures to prevent various poisonings that sometimes abound in party.

Tips for a healthy holiday:
– During the month of Ramadan, the body was accustomed to a different dietary pattern from that followed throughout the year, as during the fasting period the digestive system is taught not to take any food or drink throughout the day; That makes him rest during the day. In the first days of Eid, we begin to return to the usual diet, but this requires gradualness. It is necessary to eat a light, healthy, fat-free breakfast, rich in vegetables and small in size, as well as you should have many meals, focusing on the size of the meal to be small.

– Eid al-Fitr is associated with eating sweets, chocolate and sweets and these foods contain a high percentage of calories because they contain a high percentage of carbohydrates and fats. Eid sweets are better to be replaced with fresh fruit; Contain vitamins, mineral salts, antioxidants and fiber, or make cakes with light healthy recipes, using less oils and sugar, and these cakes can be eaten between meals in moderation.

While eating meals, it may be tempting to stay around the dining table for a long time, get off the table as soon as you are done, so as not to be tempted to try more cakes that can raise your blood glucose levels.

Not being careful to eat healthy foods can affect many people with digestive disorders like intestinal confusion, indigestion, bloating, diarrhea and vomiting, and from here we notice the reluctance of many people on this occasion in various medical clinics , so it is necessary to take care to eat healthy foods during Eid al-Fitr.

The rate of diarrhea and fever increases on the days of Eid as a result of various types of poisoning, so care should be taken to choose safe and reliable food sources and not to buy ready-made foods from unknown sources. Also, preparing meals at home reduces the risk of poisoning and intestinal problems.

To prevent food poisoning, pay attention to the following:
Wash hands and work surfaces before, during and after food preparation. Germs can live in many places around your kitchen, including hands, dishes, chopping boards, and kitchen surfaces.

Separate raw meat, poultry, seafood and eggs from ready meals. Use special cutting boards and keep raw meat away from other foods.

Cook food at the right temperature to kill harmful bacteria. Use a food thermometer.

Keep the refrigerator temperature at 40 degrees Fahrenheit (4.4 degrees Celsius) or less. Refrigerate within 2 hours of cooking (or within 1 hour if food is exposed to temperatures above 90 ° F (32 ° C).

If you have diabetes, monitor your blood sugar. Check your blood glucose levels regularly. Changes in routine, eating habits, and medication arrangements after Ramadan can have a sudden effect. If you have high blood glucose levels (more than 270 mg / dL), you may be at risk for severe dehydration. This can lead to drowsiness, confusion and the need for urgent medical attention. Talk to your endocrinologist for tips on managing your blood glucose levels if they remain elevated.

If you suffer from high blood pressure, reduce salt consumption, do not use extra salt in any meal. It can be replaced with herbs and spices like parsley, thyme, rosemary, coriander powder, chili powder and lemon juice. These herbs and spices are rich in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and healthy oils, and some of them also have anti-bacterial properties. This makes it a better option compared to salt.

A good walk can positively affect your mood and help manage your appetite. Hormones released during exercise create a good mood that can make you feel refreshed and keep your blood sugar under control. Exercise improves muscle glucose uptake and insulin sensitivity.

And do not forget to drink enough water and avoid drinking juices and soft drinks because they contain high amounts of sugar.

And in order for all our days to be holidays, it is necessary to be moderate in everything and adhere to the organization of diets.
