List of the best airlines in the world for 2021

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – It has been a strange year for the aviation industry, with many airlines shutting down aircraft for significant periods in 2020.

But with air travel returning to some regions, Airline Ratings has published its annual report on the world’s best airlines, ready to help passengers decide which airline to take back to heaven.

The Australia-based Aviation Safety and Product Classification Agency lists airline excellence prices based on criteria including fleet life, passenger ratings and product offerings.

This year, the global editorial team included the airline response to COVID-19 in those criteria as well.

And so for 2021, there is a new entry at number one, as Qatar Airways has jumped in the rankings to take the lead, beating previous winner Air New Zealand, who topped the list six times over the past few years, and came out second this year.

Airline Ratings Editor-in-Chief Jeffrey Thomas told CNN it was Qatar Airways’s response to the pandemic that resolved the issue.

“Qatar Airways has always been high on our list, winning many awards as Best Business Class, but it is its commitment to keeping its airline network largely open that has attracted jury praise – and voices.” , said Thomas.

Thomas also noted the airline’s repatriation flights and its commitment to making the flight experience during a pandemic situation as safe as possible.

Usually, Airline Ratings publishes the best airlines in November of each year, in anticipation of the coming year. But the pandemic has forced the Aviation Safety and Product Classification Agency to change things.

Thomas explained: “We postponed the announcement of 2021 to be in 2021 because of the chaos of (Covid-19) and wanted to see how the airline industry would cope with the pandemic for a longer period of time before we made choices ”.

Profitability is usually one of the main factors evaluated by the jury to rank the best airlines, but due to the heavy financial impact of “Covid-19” in the aviation industry, finances were not taken into account this year.

“We had to give it up this year because almost all airlines are losing money,” Thomas said.

In the top five this year, Singapore Airlines joined Qatar Airways and Air New Zealand to finish third.

Qantas Airways came in fourth on the “Airline Ratings” list. The Australian airline was rated separately as the safest airline in the world by Airline Ratings earlier this year.

Dubai-based Emirates Airlines ranks fifth on the list.

In addition to the top 20 rankings, Airline Ratings has also introduced additional awards for airline offers – including Best First Class Cabin (Singapore Airlines), Best Cabin Crew (Virgin Australia) and Best Salons of the airport (Qantas Airways).

Meanwhile, budget carrier EasyJet won the award for best low-cost airline in Europe, while Jetstar Airways won the award for Asia / Pacific and Southwest America.
