The designer, Abeer Akbari, started her career, which was due to her passion and being from a family in the field of engineering and design, which made her study interior design and excel in this field and highlight her name prominently. She opened her own interior design office to have her name in the field of design and architecture. She became one of the most famous stylists in Bahrain and the Persian Gulf because of her special touches and with this fame, but she always aspires. to be better and more and become an example for future designers.
- How did you decide to start studying interior design?
I decided to study in the United States and got confused between architecture and interior design, but I was impressed by studying interior design and the way they were taught in this field and I felt it was the field in which I could excel.
- How did you get started in this field?
I started very hard because of the alienation and being away from my family, I had pressures to study and live alone without anyone with me, and the study needed constant focus and I often went to university for long hours to do the internship . .
- Where do you get your design inspiration from?
I come with my inspiration according to the project. If I have a villa house design it will be according to the client’s personality and his favorite type. Black was a classic or modern design. Once I know the client’s taste I start doing his design, but we the case of large projects such as banks and hospitals is important. One of the latest and most important international projects that suits the environment of the country.
- What are the most important projects you have undertaken in Bahrain?
I have designed many hospitals, including the Bahrain Defense Forces Hospital, I have designed Benefit B Bank and I have designed the National Bank of Bahrain.
- Do you have projects designed outside of Bahrain?
Yes, there are many, the most important of which are the design of the Arab Open University in Riyadh, Amman and Medina, and the King Faisal University in Al-Ahsa and many private villas.
- Where did you study interior design?
She has studied interior design in the United States, specifically in Dallas.
- Who is the biggest supporter of your interior design studies?
The biggest supporter for me is my family, specifically my father and mother, who was with me at every step and supported me in all aspects.
- What are the difficulties you have encountered in this area?
The study period and hours are very long and it took a lot of effort, the duration of one hour was a minimum of three hours. After graduation the field was much easier with practice and love for the field.
- What distinguishes your work from other designers?
The excellence in my work is that the design is consistent in color and dimensions, and that each project has its own privacy. What sets my work apart is that it is consistent and carefully studied.
- What are your favorite projects and why?
My favorite project, which I feel close to, is the project of the Bahrain Defense Hospital, because the character of the country was full of humanity and positive energy. to enter the sick to feel comfortable and happy in that place and for the patient to rejoice entering this hospital and being treated in it.
- Have you ever considered creating your own book or magazine?
Yes, I have thought a lot about making a book on interior design and what is this field and interior design services and what can be offered because interior design is a service you provide to people in terms of the time you give to the project and craftsmanship and how to treat the client and this is the secret of the success of the interior stylist.
- Can you describe the evolution of your business from the day you started until today?
In the beginning I always listened to my late father and the advice he gave me about design, accuracy and dedication to work, he was an engineer, I started designing simple and convenient places and things for me. The project will be a failure, knowing that I received offers for very large projects, but I did not accept them because I was in my infancy and wanted to do everything accurately and masterfully, until my name grew and developed, praise. God, I can now take big and important projects and design them to the maximum.
- What are your plans for the future?
Yes, there is a plan in Bali, which is to provide an interior design service for small villas and for people with limited incomes, whose need is difficult to pay the interior designer.
- Who is your favorite stylist and why?
There is an architect and interior designer at the same time, Frank Lloyd Wright.
- What qualities does an interior stylist need?
The most important characteristic that the designer needs is the accuracy and intensity of the observation and he has a long mind to understand the client in front of him and the needs of the client.
- What are the most important tips you want to give to novice stylists?
Passion is most important in this field and he must endure long hours of work and be a creative and perfect designer to leave his mark in the future. Not just study, but an art to be gained through practice.
